We have a tricky situation ahead of us right now as a business and a box.
Due to overwhelming interest in what we do at Connect thanks to a top quality coaching staff, friendly atmosphere and stunning results we deliver to people I'm afraid to say we will not be running an Intro Course in July due to high current membership numbers.
Rather than pack as many people into the box as possible we strive to maintain a high level of coaching and personal interaction which made the box so popular and successful in the first place and this means limiting our numbers for the time being. This is hard to do from a business point of view but to maintain our integrity and continue to over deliver in our coaching it is something that must be done.
We want to know each and every one of our members well and know what their goals and aspirations are, know what their strengths are and perhaps most importantly know what their weaknesses are. This is what sets us apart from a regular gym and will be why CrossFit and Connect itself will continue to take over from Globo-gyms as THE places to train in the coming years.
If you would like to join Connect then get in touch as this will still be possible via a private Intro Course. Then at the end of July we will assess numbers and perhaps re-open the group Intro Course once again.
For existing members that have been considering a full membership now would be a good time to do so as we may have to cap numbers completely until we find new premises.

From March we are changing the way induct new members into the Connect community with a One-Month Trial Membership for people to purchase. After a FREE taster session with us of course! (For all the details and a darn good read see our website here)
This will allow you a whole month of trialling out our various classes to see if CrossFit is for you. There will be specific Beginners classes on a Saturday at 11am and a Monday at 7pm which we encourage all new starters to attend whilst we go over the main foundational lifts and movements. However, if during this time we feel you are accomplished enough to join the main classes we will be happy for you to do so.

The Beginners classes will run on a four class rolling schedule so that anyone who now wants to join can do so at any point in time and no longer have to wait until another Intro Course rolls around. We hope this appeals to anyone thinking about joining us and if you have now is a great time to get in touch.
The Beginner classes are also suitable for existing members who feel they still need to work on their technique so feel free to book in if this is you. If anyone has any questions we'd be only too happy to answer them.

As of October we are redesigning the way we run our Intro Courses at the box.
Currently we hold one or two Intro Courses a month for a 3 hour period on the weekends and we have done so since we opened. However, we feel that there can be a bit of information overload during these sessions so would like to enhance the experience for our beginners starting on their CrossFit journey.
The Intro Course will now consist of 8 one-hour sessions held on a Monday and Wednesday from 7-8pm for four weeks.
This will allow us to impart a greater knowledge of all things CrossFit to you, give you more time to practice and feel comfortable with the foundational CrossFit movements, slowly ramp up the workout intensity and also to gauge your current level of fitness by having you complete a few of the classic 'Benchmark' workouts (or WODs).
This will allow you to feel more comfortable in the box surroundings and with all the CrossFit jargon before throwing you into a regular WOD class with people that have been coming to us for a while (not that they bite or anything!!).
The cost of the course will remain exactly the same at £80.
After completing the course with us you can then sign up to a regular membership and book into the regular timetabled WOD classes.
CrossFit is growing hugely in the UK and as we get an influx of people wanting to train with us we feel this will offer the best level of coaching, safety guidance and enjoyment to any potential new members.
We are starting this new course on Monday 1st October and it will hold a maximum of 8 people.
A new course will start at the beginning of each month.

We are pleased to announce the arrival of our 4-week fast track package (we really don't want to use the term 'bootcamp'!). Starting on April 3rd 2012 we will be holding a 4-week intensive course designed to offer you the quickest way to move better, feel better, eat better and look better!
There will be 3 sessions a week at CrossFit Connect in a 'closed class' environment. This means everyone who starts the course will be training and learning with the same people every class. We feel this is key in developing bonds that will push you through the training sessions.
You will receive as part of the course:
* 3 x 1 hour sessions a week at CrossFit Connect where you will be instructed by professional and experienced coaches in the exercises that give you the best and most impressive results.
* Our CrossFit Intro Programme (valued at £80) which will allow you to continue training at CrossFit Connect after the 4-weeks have finished. (Click here for more info on the Intro Course).
* A 'Plan P' paleo diet handbook and meal planner designed by our 3 AA Rosette winning in-house chef.
* Fitness and body measurements taken at the beginning and end of the course.
* Access to one other regular scheduled class on the CrossFit Connect timetable.

So why should you take up this offer rather than any of the other fitness packages that are found with a quick search on the internet? I can think of a few:
1) As coaches we live for what we do. Training and CrossFit is a lifestyle choice and we would be doing it even if it wasnt our job. This comes across in the level of care, instruction and knowledge we impart to you. We care about your results and truly want to see you achieve.
2) If you want to learn to lift weights properly then why not learn from World and European Masters Olympic Lifting champion Holly. Not too many people can say they have been coached by a World champion!
3) Lifting the foundational weights movements like the deadlift, squat and press will get you results quicker than endless reps on boring, static machines due to the much increased hormone boost you get from these exercises.
4) We play around with gymnastics movements such as pull ups, handstands, press ups and work on the Olympic rings. You only have to look at a gymnasts physique to see what bodyweight training can do to your body. Plus, its fun!
5) The paleo way of eating has been gaining much press recently as people begin to realise that this is a very healthy and sustainable way to eat. Its not a 'diet' but a change of thought when it comes to what you put on your plate. In essence its means eating meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. When you start cutting out the excess starchy carbs from your diet (potatoes, bread, pasta etc) your body turns to fat as a fuel source rather than its excess store of carbs. Your excess fat stores start disappearing. You get lean! Now paleo is not a 'low carb' diet that many people think. You still eat plenty of carbs, its just that they come from different sources than normal. You can never have enough vegetables!
And who better to learn this from than our own paleo chef and owner of Caveman Snacks and the Caveman cafe. You will receive a 14 day breakfast, lunch and dinner meal plan to ensure you are never stuck with what to eat.
6) Perhaps most importantly; value for money. With our small group class you will be receiving one to one instruction every session. Although not strictly personal training you will still receive our one to one attention in every lift you do. So 12 hours of coaching, plus all of the above, for the cost of 3 hours of personal training sessions elsewhere in Brighton and Hove. We think that's good value.
7) With CrossFit going huge in 2012 with its association with Reebok it is a great time to get involved. With regular column inches in Mens Health, Runners World, Mens Fitness, Red and Health and Fitness magazines the wider fitness community is really starting to catch onto the idea and benefits of CrossFit training. We want to keep the number of people on the course low so we can give everyone our full attention. So 8 places are going to go fast! However, we are well prepared for the fact that we are going to get a lot of interest in this and so will run additional packages either following the completion of this one or alongside it at different class times. Yes it takes hard work and a certain level of commitment but if you are really prepared to make a change its amazing what can be done in just 30 days. We aren't trying to sell you a wonder cure that will have you prancing around in your bikini or speedos like a supermodel in just 4 weeks but we can guarantee that if you stick to the programme and our advice you will definitely feel stronger, leaner and fitter than perhaps you have in a long time. A drop of 2-6% body fat and 2-3in off of your waist and hip measurements is definitely achievable if you really want it.

We are holding thelast CrossFit Intro course of the year this Sunday at 12.30pm - 3.00pm.
The CrossFit Connect Intro course allows us to explain in detail everything you need to know about CrossFit from its origins to its theories, to its diet recommendations and to its main exercises. You will be coached in a small group setting on the 9 foundational movements that CrossFit regularly use along with a handful of other exercises that you will see up on the whiteboard. Functional movement at its best.
The purpose of the Intro course is to ensure you have a basic level of understanding that will carry over into the WOD (Workout of the Day) class settings and make you feel more relaxed when we start using CrossFit jargon! You will not be expected to perform every exercise expertly or even remember everything we tell you but you will find that upon joining in with the classes this information will come back to you quickly allowing a good synchronisation with the rest of the class. You will have time to perfect these movements over the following few months as we gradually ramp up the intensity and enhance your skill levels.
With lots of CrossFit competitions coming up next year and with Reeboks new involvement in CrossFit bound to get people talking, now is the perfect time to start your CrossFit journey.

Our Intro courses are vital for you to participate in in order to understand and appreciate what CrossFit is and how it can be so effective as a training method. We also cover the CrossFit fundamentals, are happy to answer any questions you may have and have a chat on nutrition and why it is such an important part of your training.
After the Intro course you are then able to attend any of our regular classes. You will still have us on hand to guide you through the classes and help you perfect the movements but you will have a much better understanding of what it is you are doing and more importantly, why?

Well that time has rolled around again! We have our intro course ready and prepared for this Sunday 8th May for those of you that want to start coming down to CrossFit Connect and start training with us.
This informative and technique driven course will give you the foundations for all you need to know about CrossFit, why it is so effective, why the community spirit is second to none and why our members are already seeing great gains in strength, power and speed in the few short weeks we have been open.
The course runs from 10am-3pm and costs £80. With a maximum of 8 people on the course myself and Holly can give you expert tuition in all you need to know to start coming down to our regular classes.
After that you can either join on a monthly membership of £55 for unlimited classes with no contracts or £8 per drop in class. We really believe we are delivering unparalleled value for money and superb tuition. Come down and help make our community (and yourselves) grow stronger!
