Photo Update

We had a very productive week last week in terms of ordering all the equipment and getting things built and set up. The box is actually starting to take shape now and look like a great training space. Our order of heavy duty mats came and with them weighing 42kg each getting them all off the back of the lorry and into place was a workout in itself!

We built a couple of great lifting platforms this weekend and i think the quality stuff from York should arrive today; two sets of 150kg plates and a few top end lifting bars to complete the set.

The next job is to arrange the pull up bars and wings from which we can hang the full height gymnastic rings and top it off with a climbing rope too.

Its fantastic seeing it all come to life and i cant wait to get people blasting out some WODs in there. A couple of weeks and we should be fully operational. When we have confirmed a date we'll be shouting it out so keep checking back!

The full website is also nearly finished and should be up online before the end of the week too. A holding page is up there at the moment if you havent seen it already. Check it out at www.crossfitconnect.co.uk

More news as it happens........

The Equipment is Arriving

So this week has been super busy with the organising and buying of all the equipment for the box. We drew up a big list of all the essential equipment (and some less essential but very fun stuff!) and then spoke with all the suppliers to see what we could arrange. A lot of suppliers at the moment are very into the CrossFit idea and places like York, Beaverfit and Wolverson really cater for the functional fitness crowd.

I had the first delivery today and everything should be rolling in by the end of the week. What am i most looking forward to? Hmmm.. i think that would have to be the York Olympic weight sets, of which we will have two lots of 150kg bumper plates and olympic bars, and the rig (pull up frame) that Beaverfit are custom building for us. That is going to look awesome once it's in. And on a much more boring note, i think when the flooring arrives and is put in place the unit will start to feel a lot more like a proper CrossFit box. Its going to take some muscle though as each mat weighs 40kg and we are getting 28 of them! A workout in itself. :)

Once we have some things installed i'll post up a picture of the goings on.

We're in!

Well after much waiting the day finally arrived! Last Thursday i signed the lease and picked up the keys to our new CrossFit box!

Its just an empty shell at the moment so it is going to be exciting to fill it full of fun equipment and training toys. Thats the going to be the agenda for this week. As well as the traditional weights equipment we want to add some cool stuff such as climbing holds, ropes and nets and things you wouldnt find in traditional gyms.  Im sure once we start we will think of all different things we can add to offer to our members.

We are hoping to be open around the beginning of March and i will post more details up on here and our website (www.crossfitconnect.co.uk) when we get a date arranged.

Now, where's that credit card!

Website

The finishing touches are being put to the new CrossFit Connect website.

The site will have lots of information about what CrossFit is and why it is such a good method of training for so many people. If you havent heard of CrossFit yet i hope it will answer any questions you have and encourage you to come down and see for yourself what so many other people have already discovered: CrossFit rocks!

I hope to have it live in around a week or so watch this space!

Council Give Us The Green Light!

After a 10 week wait we have finally received planning permission from the council to get CrossFit Connect up and running! It seemed like a long wait but they actually delivered the verdict a week early so all is good.

It now seems like it is becoming a proper reality and i have a monster list of things to sort out to prepare for opening. At the moment we are looking at being functional by the first weekend in March.

So, its all systems go. We are very excited at the prospect or having a CrossFit box open and growing the CrossFit community further here in the UK. It is a great scene and one in which we cant wait to be involved with more.

We have all manner of social networking sites set up so choose whichever one you like best and we will keep you posted on further developments.

The Growth Of UK CrossFit

Take a look at the latest issue of Health Club Management magazine for an article about the rise of CrossFit in the UK over the last 12-months or so. It makes for an intersting read.

There is a great CrossFit community being built over here by some really top class coaches. Im going to be proud to be a part of it.
